WTA Finals, sponsored by Roca, turns out to be a smash hit
It’s safe to say that the WTA Finals, held by the Women’s Tennis Association, that took place in Shenzhen recently was a smash hit.
Tennis tournaments have gained a lot of popularity across the world in the recent years, making it a natural progression for this highest-level tennis tournament in Asia to be held in Shenzhen, attracting star players from Australia, Canada, Romania, China and Japan.
Now in its 49th edition for the singles event and the 44th edition for the doubles, it turned out to be a heavily contested sporting event with eight singles players and eight doubles teams competing over the course of one week. Ultimately, Ashleigh Barty from Australia emerged victorious in the singles finals, while Hungarian Tímea Babos and French Kristina Mladenovic won the doubles final.
One of the major sponsors for the event was Roca, the Spanish sanitaryware brand. Emilio Salazar, the managing director of Roca China, says: “Roca is pleased to support the world’s top tennis players in the WTA year-end finals in Shenzhen this year. We will continue to help develop the tennis industry in future.”
