The third edition of Jockey Club New Arts Power (JCNAP 2019) is back in town till January 2020, featuring seven performing arts programmes, two visual arts programmes, and over 150 community and educational events. Hosted by Hong Kong Arts Development Council and The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the marathon event this year explores the theme of &#8220;Arts Around Us&#8221; – a theme that allows local artists to push beyond the boundaries of traditional art spaces and reach even closer to the community through their art.

Notable among this year’s participating artists are choreographer and dancer Lai Tak Wai and Daniel Yeung, curators André Chan and Jing Chin yin Chong, the creative trio called Thunderstorm, local saxophone ensemble La Sax and physical drama group Théâtre de la Feuille.

Speaking to the media at the opening ceremony, HKADC&#8217;s Chairman Dr Wilfred Wong said: “Following successful first and second editions, JCNAP is now well established as a major home-grown arts festival. It provides Hong Kong artists a much-needed platform for creativity and an opportunity to connect with the community, schools and the general public.”

Art abound at Jockey Club New Arts Power 2019

The city was off to the races this past Sunday, as&nbsp;Sa Sa Ladies&nbsp;Purse Day Championship&nbsp;took place at the Sha Tin Racecourse, with co-hosts&nbsp;Sa Sa International Holdings Limited and the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC). However, the mighty racing steeds were not the only focus of the event.&nbsp;Featuring an array of events spotlighting the glamourous lady attendees,&nbsp;Sa Sa Ladies Purse Day was shot full of events and promotions for the city&#8217;s most elegant and glamorous.

Hong Kong horseracing is about to get glamorous with the upcoming Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday.
The annual event – co-hosted by Oriental Watch Company and The Hong Kong Jockey Club – is a chance for HK racegoers to spruce up their everyday outfits with a bow tie for a more Dapper Dan-esque look.

It was celebrations all round at the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s annual gala dinner as Ryan Moore once again clinched the ‘Longines World’s Best Jockey’ title. During the elaborate occasion, the Swiss watch brand also showcased its new, luxury Longines Masters Collection.

July 8 saw the inaugural presentation of the Tony Cruz Award. Presented at this year’s ever respected Champion Award Ceremony in the Grand Hyatt’s Grand Ballroom, the award takes its name from one of Hong Kong’s most successful ever trainers and jockeys and will now be presented on an annual basis to the most successful local rider in terms of overall wins, whether a freelance jockey or an apprentice. For the 2015/16 season the award was presented to Kei Chiong, a young female jockey.
