<p>However, cufflinks are not a recent trend. Far from it, actually. Originating in the 16th century, the first makeshift cufflinks were actually strings that were used to tie the sleeve ends in place. Nocturn-Ons: Stay on-trend with these playful looks

<p>The Paul Smith Spring-Summer 2018 collection escapes to a more peaceful and positive place with an explosion of colours and motifs.</p>
<p>Shirts are emblazoned with retro classic Hawaiian prints inspired by Paul’s early visits to New York in the Seventies, when he recalls returning to England with trunks of Hawaiian shirts sourced from SoHo.</p>

<p>The Ocean print is a bright and cheerful take on the classic Hawaiian shirt motif that evokes a 1950s surfer spirit. Comprised of elegant floral formations, undersea corals and Japanese koi carps, the similar links to Japanese culture continue to centralise Paul Smith designs since his first trips to the country in the 1980s. Floral and aquatic motifs are embroidered onto the satin lapels of tuxedos while graphic fish prints feature as a major theme throughout the collection. &nbsp;Appearing in every product group, this element takes inspiration from Paul’s discovery of vintage food packaging on a visit to Tokyo.</p>

<p>While a focus on vibrant block colours such as bright purple and bottle green feature heavily throughout the show, traditional British tailoring cloths and bold tailoring shapes are also a key theme. Demonstrating versatility, this season finds jackets and trousers worn as separate pieces, displaying how the individual elements of a suit can be worn in a more casual way. On the contrary, exaggerated 1970s-style lapels and jacquard are examples for luxurious eveningwear options.</p>

Paul Smith SS18 collection: An escape to a warm tropical place

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The fashion world is slowly changing for the better after Bottega Veneta announced that starting from 2017, it will present its collections with two annual combined women’s and men’s fashion shows.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The move by the Italian luxury fashion house comes after Burberry, Paul Smith and Gucci earlier announced they will also hold combined-sex fashion shows from next year. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Bottega held its first co-ed Spring/Summer fashion show in September at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The fashion house will hold two annual combined women’s and men’s fashion shows, respectively for the Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer 2017 seasons, during the February and September Milan women’s fashion weeks.</span></p>


Bottega Veneta to combine women’s and men’s fashion shows

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">James Bond uses his to defeat evil henchmen, presidents use them to agree to treaties and Albert Einstein used his to figure out complex equations. What are we talking about? Pens.</span></p>
<p>Now pens are not the sexiest accessory, we can’t all use them to save the world and get the girl, but they are pretty important to some people.</p>
<p>And people who use pens, and pretty much everyone else, know about Parker pens and Montblanc’s classic fountain pens, but for those looking to stand out and move away from the classics, British designer Paul Smith has collaborated with pen manufacturer Caran d’Ache for the 849 pen and an 8-pen box set.</p>
<p>The colours come straight out of Smith’s Autumn/Winter collection and they are bright.</p>
<p>The Caran d’Ache 849, with its famous hexagonal body and its ultra-thin case, has been one of the company’s cult pens since 1969 and is constantly creating surprises with its growing range of colours.</p>
<p>The bright colours might not be to everyone’s taste, but it will certainly get you noticed in meetings.</p>

The Hold-all Calls

<p>Using a period of time filled with free love, flower power and liberal thinking as an influence, one of Britain’s leading fashion designers is hoping his Spring/Summer collection 2017 will bring people closer together.</p>
<p>Paul Smith’s SS17 collection is inspired by friendship and floral garlands, which are associated with the hippie-style fashion of placing flowers through your hair.</p>
<p>And the hippie movement probably knows more about flower power and how to bring people together through peace, love and happiness than anyone else.</p>
<p>To try and capture this feeling of love, the designer has gone all-out floral and his photographic floral prints appear hand-drawn or woven onto the cloth which gives a modern feel to a classic summer look.</p>
<p>This is echoed in the casualness of sandals and espadrilles with the new Artist Stripe.</p>
