<p>The annual Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy Gentlemen&#8217;s Bow Tie Raceday has become something of a highlight for the city&#8217;s debonair men-about-town. Ahead of this year&#8217;s much-awaited iteration, which will be held on 23 October, Oriental Watch Company hosted a Bow Tie Walk followed by a Fine Gentlemen Evening earlier this month.</p>

<p>Among the legion of well-dressed, bow-tie-sporting gentlemen who gathered for the events were Dennis Yeung, managing director of Oriental Watch Holdings, Albert Wong, President of Eastern Worldwide, actor Jason Chan and Hong Kong&#8217;s own champion jockey Zac Purton.</p>

<p>Hong Kong horseracing is about to get glamorous with the upcoming Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday.</p>
<p>The annual event – co-hosted by Oriental Watch Company and The Hong Kong Jockey Club – is a chance for HK racegoers to spruce up their everyday outfits with a bow tie for a more Dapper Dan-esque look.</p>
<p>Not sure what to wear? No worries. We sat down with debonair men-about-town Albert Wong and Brandon Chau ahead of the event to get some tips.</p>

<p>In anticipation of the 2017 Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday to be held on 22 October, the organisers, Oriental Watch Company and The Hong Kong Jockey Club, recently hosted an exclusive Do-It-Yourself bow tie workshop at the Happy Valley Racecourse.</p>
<p>Renowned bow-tie designer Weixu Wang shared insights into the art of bow-tie making and guided guests to create their own personalised bow ties. Using PVC plastic, each guest was taught how to make unique bow ties using the simplest of tools and the right techniques.</p>
<p>Weixu Wang himself designed three exclusive bow ties to commemorate the 2017 Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday. While the Golden Time bow tie is an elaborate affair in black and gold, with tassels, resembling a horse’s tail, the Glorious Moment bow tie is a quirky collection that looks like a 3D jigsaw puzzle. The Embroidered Glory bow tie is more ‘classic’ by comparison, using flat embroidery to depict the life-like sketch of a horse.</p>
<p>“It is an honour to be invited to design unique bow ties for the 2017 Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday”, says Weixu Wang, “Originally created for the royalty, bow ties have now become a popular and stylish item in men&#8217;s fashion.”</p>

<p>Trendsetters, horse lovers and watch aficionados gathered at Sha Tin Racecourse recently to celebrate the Oriental Watch 55th anniversary. It was definitely one for the gentlemen, thanks to its bow-tie themed day. Acclaimed actor Him Law was among the celebrities in attendance, with a catwalk show of celebrity models proving a highlight.</p>
