What sets Boffi and De Padova apart from its competitors? 
The difference between us and the other players in the market is that we are working on creating a group with an entrepreneurial point of view. Boffi has always been a company that is strong in the production of modular furnishing systems, while De Padova has creates loose furniture such as sofas, tables and chairs. Therefore, bringing the two brands together allows us to be a one-stop solution for all interior decor needs.

Can you tell us a bit more about what the customers want and how it has changed? 
The higher you go in the market, the more discerning customers become. They want tailored solutions. That is why we have also created a custom made division called the Boffi Code where we design special objects that are exclusively for one customer. You need to be upscale on the quality too. The products have to be resistant to time because these products are expensive and they need to be in the homes for a long time. They need to be timeless, to go beyond short-termed fashion trends, which is something we pay particular attention to.

You are here to avail this new store. Can you tell us more about this space? 
While we’ve always had a presence in Hong Kong, this new showroom is something I’m particularly proud of. Being located on the third floor, it’s something customers have to come and find. In the process, it transforms from being just a shop into a space where you can feel the emotion of decoration. With this new showroom, we’ve mimicked the sensation of being in a real home, with a kitchen, bathroom, living room, a terrace&#8230; It allows our customers to truly experience how our furniture feels in a residential context.

How important is the Hong Kong market to Boffi and De Padova? 
Hong Kong has always been an interesting city for us. We have been here for more than 20 years. In fact, it was the first location that we expanded to in Asia. We have always been happy with this market&nbsp; because the international taste of consumers here is very much developed in terms of culture. It is in line with our products. It sets a benchmark for us, a standard that pushes us to do better to ensure we remain successful in appealing to discerning homeowners.

You have a very diverse background ranging from furniture to fashion. How did your own story with Giorgetti begin? 
Honestly I don’t think it’s very diverse. At the end of the day, fashion and furniture are linked by many common values, such as attention to detail and a drive for high-quality products. How I ended up with Giorgetti is that I’ve always been in love with the brand ever since I joined this industry 15 years ago. I admired its ability to look at the details, quality and craftsmanship from different, unique perspectives with an almost-maniac passion. It was very much in tune with my own passions, so when the company went up for sale, I collaborated with some friends at Progressio, an equity fund, and we bought it.

What sets Giorgetti apart from other luxury furniture brands? 
I think our DNA inherently shares some values with other high-end brands when taken individually, be it quality, passion for details, ability to work with natural materials then utterly transforming them, the delicate blending of traditional craftsmanship with modern technology&#8230; But when these are combined, they create a recipe that is uniquely Giorgetti. We design for both beauty and functionality.

How is the latest 2019 collections different to its predecessors? 
To be honest, the new collection isn’t exactly different. A new Giorgetti product only enters the collection when it is perfectly able to commune with its predecessors and to send the same message. We are not editors of furniture pieces – we work towards creating a unique atmosphere. Giorgetti isn’t just a brand that positions a product into a space, but one that can design the space around a product – it’s this architectural perspective that gives us a unique edge.

How important is Hong Kong for Giorgetti? And how did the partnership between ViA and Giorgetti come about? 
We’ve been in Hong Kong for many years now, and it’s a hugely rewarding market for us. Its unique challenges – smaller housing spaces, variations in taste compared to the West – have pushed us to become even more flexible and added a new dimension to our understanding of Asian preferences as well.
ViA has been our partner in Hong Kong since we first came here over 10 years ago. Partners are able to put an additional level of quality to our service, which is fundamental for us, and ViA has a privileged eye on the local market and consumer. Our partnership with ViA has been very fruitful, which is because when we share the same values and the same vision.

Essere Group unveils Officine Gullo flagship store on Duddell Street

For over eight decades, Italian furniture maker Molteni Group has wowed with its fantastic interior decor and luxury lifestyle designs. Now, the marque has opened a sumptuous new showroom in Wan Chai’s Harbour Centre – a grandiose event that also celebrated Molteni’s 85th anniversary. Tell us about your family’s company, the Molteni Group.
We are a family company that’s celebrating its 85th anniversary this year. It was started after WWII by my grandfather, Angelo, in Brianza, the hub of luxury Italian furniture. We began as a small woodworking workshop, but over time, my grandfather decided to move from crafting traditional furniture into modern designs. He also switched to an industrial manufacturing model. Both these decisions really put Molteni ahead of our time. Through the decades, we continued growing, diversifying and gaining acquisitions, and today, we encompass the breadth of the interior design and furniture making industries with branches across the world.

When did you decide to join the company, and what does your current role entail? 
It was a strange evolution to be involved in this family business from an early age. I remember spending weekends playing in the factory, and I was&nbsp; always fascinated by how things worked and how they go together. So, personally, it was a natural progression from that to studying architecture to joining the family business.
Today, as Director of Product Development of Molteni&amp;C / DADA, my role is to serve as a conduit and translator between the visions of the amazing designers we collaborate with and our own unique brand identity. Then, of course, I’m involved with the technical side of things to ensure that every product is up to our high standards.

What sets Molteni&amp;C / DADA apart from competitors?
I think the fact that we’re a heavily family-involved business sets us apart. For myself and my cousins, as well as my father’s generation, who are still involved, it goes above and beyond just a professional career. It’s something we’re all building together, so everything we do is personal, something we take pride in. It helps us really create and maintain special relationships with our clients, and gain a keen insight into their needs so we can keep manufacturing furniture that is in line with their desires and demands.

Soft Set-ups: Our top picks for adult pink furniture and home accessories

On Tuesday, renowned Italian furniture label Paola Lenti hosted an exclusive party in collaboration with <a href="http://www.colourliving.com/">COLOURLIVING</a>, Hong Kong&#8217;s go-to luxury lifestyle store, to introduce its latest collections. In addition to the newest additions to its outdoor selections, the event also marked the debut of the brand&#8217;s dazzling indoor designs. We spoke to Anna Lenti, Managing Director of Paola Lenti and the eponymous designer&#8217;s sister, to find out just why these fine furniture pieces have found such favour amongst the city&#8217;s elite homeowners.

You&#8217;ve had a long and varied career working in the helicopter and aerospace industries. What made you shift to join your sister at Paola Lenti?
Well, when my mother and sister first started Paola Lenti in 1994, I actually didn&#8217;t have plans to join them. Paola is a true creative free spirit, though, so when the company really began expanding and finding increasing success, they needed someone they could really trust who had the skills to oversee the commercial operations of the company. They were quite persuasive, and finally, I joined the company in 2000.

Can you tell us a little bit about Paola Lenti&#8217;s brand identity and why it&#8217;s so unique?
We are a luxury Italian furniture maker dedicated to producing only the best designs using the highest-quality materials. I think what truly sets us apart is that our company places a huge emphasis on the materials we use, because that is the starting point of every piece of furniture that we make. We actually design and create all our materials in-house, especially in terms of synthermal fabrics and textiles.
Coherence is also another core component for us. We are dedicated to working as a team so that everything we manufacture is unquestionably, undeniably Paola Lenti. It&#8217;s a philosophy we stick to even when collaborating with guest designers because we want to remain true to our brand identity.

In terms of aesthetic design, colour is something of a hallmark for us. I think nobody is as crazy as we are about colours. In fact, for every material we make, we have hundreds of colour options available. You can imagine it&#8217;s quite a task to oversee, but it&#8217;s definitely a great source of pride for Paola Lenti.
How did the partnership with COLOURLIVING come about?
When we first wanted to expand into Hong Kong, we were looking for a partner that would understand and share our brand philosophy. We didn&#8217;t just want a short-term collaboration but a fruitful long-term relationship. With COLOURLIVING, we found a fantastic team who were dedicated to the same ethos of delivering the very best furniture goods. We started working with COLOURLIVING three years ago, and today we have unveiled our latest 2018 collection in their wonderful showroom.

Paola Lenti&#8217;s is debuting its first indoor collection in Hong Kong today. What led to that decision?
When we first partnered with COLOURLIVING, we focused solely on our outdoor furniture, which is something that we&#8217;ve built a very solid reputation for. But of course, Paola Lenti is focused very much on being a holistic lifestyle brand, so it made sense to follow that up with our latest indoor designs. We find that the boundaries between interior and exterior furnishings have disintegrated, with customers looking for an overarching motif throughout their homes. By having both collections available in Hong Kong, we&#8217;re offering our clients that very opportunity.

The new shop, created from a partnership between eco-minded contemporary interior design boutique Nature Evolution and Riva 1920, Italy&#8217;s renowned luxury wood furniture specialist, is committed to offering only the finest sustainable designs. Tell us what Riva 1920 is all about. 
Riva 1920 is a specialist in high-end solid wood furniture. It&#8217;s a family-run business first started by my grandfather in a small wood laboratory in Brianza, Italy back in 1920. For almost 100 years and across four generations, we have remained faithful to the philosophy of producing sustainable, 100 percent natural wooden furniture pieces of the most luxurious quality.

What sets Riva 1920 apart from other furniture brands?
We are extremely proud of our strict adherence to respecting Mother Nature and eschewing all chemical and artificial products – it&#8217;s ingrained in every step of our production methodology, from the original wood to the glues to the finishings. Our sustainable approach also sees us use recycled woods – such as ancient fallen Kauri trees from New Zealand or even the pier pikes from Venice&#8217;s famous lagoon – or buy trees from reforestation initiatives to make sure we preserve the world&#8217;s natural resources.

You are the third generation running Riva 1920. How did you get involved in the family business?
Well, it wasn&#8217;t something that I ever questioned. As far back as I can remember, I was walking around the family workshop and hearing my grandfather and father talk about wood. It all became formalised when I turned 15 and got my first official job. Now, my brother, sister and myself oversee the company&#8217;s operations, and the next generation is already involved as well. There&#8217;s a genuinely unique sense of ownership and pride that comes from running a family legacy like Riva 1920.
How did the partnership between Riva 1920 and Nature Evolution come about?
Actually the story first began when we encountered Nature Evolution at the Salone del Mobile Milano furniture fair a few years ago. After getting to know the brand a little better, we realised that our two companies share the same values, philosophies and dedication to delivering all-natural furniture to discerning high-end customers. From there, the step to becoming partners actually seemed like a rather natural progression. We were also looking to enter the Hong Kong market, and Nature Evolution&#8217;s local expertise made it a perfect match.

Why did Riva 1920 choose to launch in Hong Kong?
Well, our company had already been introduced to regions like Taiwan and Singapore, and we were looking for a new market to set up in. Hong Kong, for me, seemed like the perfect choice. It&#8217;s an extremely cosmopolitan city, but more than that, I find the people here really respect their environments and their spaces, both inside and outdoors. I believe there&#8217;s definitely an innate appetite for the kind of high-quality, all-natural wood furniture that Riva 1920 specialises in, and I&#8217;m so proud that we have opened a store here.
