In the vibrant city of London, where space is a luxury, a home with five bedrooms and a garden is a dream come true. The stunning Kensington residence, designed by Kris Turnbull Studios, is an exceptional blend of contemporary style, comfort and practicality. Its luxurious details are evident throughout, from the high-quality finishes to the immaculate design elements. This family house exudes refinement and repose, perfect for urban living.

The interiors are a testament to the Belfast-based studio’s attention to detail, with impeccably crafted joinery, bespoke furnishings and decorative lighting creating an attractive and functional space. Soft neutrals and greys dominate the colour palette, providing a calming backdrop for the décor’s opulent features. Glass doors separating the rooms invite easy transition from one space to another. The result is a masterclass in modern interior design, blending glamour and relaxation in perfect harmony.

Paving the way for the grandeur within, the entrance hall is sleek and minimalist, showcasing a stylish chandelier and an artfully constructed staircase. At the core of the home is an open-plan living area, flooded with natural light pouring in through floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors that lead out to a private oasis, where leafy trees stand tall beyond the fenced perimeter. Incorporating both an ample kitchen and a lounge, this spacious room seamlessly connects to the landscaped garden and stone paved terraces, creating a fluidity between indoor and outdoor living. Verdant foliage peeps through the windows, making it feel like a house in the countryside rather than a metropolis.

The furniture within the living area is the ideal marriage of modern style and comfort. A sleek, low-profile sectional sofa in a neutral colour provides plentiful seating, while a stylish coffee table and side tables add a touch of sophistication. Facing the sofa is the TV wall, with the screen flanked by wide shelves and a low contemporary fireplace clad in dark, flecked marble running the entire length below. Huge modern works of art and small, pleasing decorative pieces reflect the homeowners’ personal style.

The kitchen is a culinary haven with its high-gloss cabinetry and large central island, perfect for cooking and entertaining. A breakfast bar with stools, a pair of comfy armchairs, and bay-window seating overlooking the patio make a cosy, casual gathering area for family and friends. An adjacent area offers informal dining in the summer months. With glass walls and skylights extending across their roofs, these two bright spaces form a contemporary conservatory built onto the back of the house.

In the dining area, earth-toned chairs surround a simple, yet beautifully crafted table. The array of pendent, light-reflecting rectangles suspended above the table is mainly decorative, since the skylight provides ample lighting and fuels the feeling that one is dining outdoors.

On the first floor is a sitting room, with sofa and chairs placed around a large, circular rug on the parquet floor. In perfect symmetry, the carpet traces the lines of the round false ceiling from which a round chandelier hangs. Two marble coffee tables, also round in shape, stand in the centre, adding to the balanced play of shapes and textures.

A more formal dining room is dominated by an impressive modernist painting and a duo of square chandeliers dripping crystal droplets. Evening drinks are provided by a dedicated bar area with a wall of carefully stored wine bottles.

Bedrooms are serene retreats providing an escape from busy city life while offering glimpses of the desirable neighbourhood through their large windows. The master bedroom is a luxurious sanctuary with a modern aesthetic. The luxe velvet headboard of the king-size bed is the centrepiece of the room, while the front and legs of matching bedside chests of drawers are wrapped with carved metal vines of flowers, adding a distinctive artsy vibe. A large walk-in wardrobe provides ample storage for clothing and accessories, and a spacious en-suite bathroom boasts a freestanding tub, separate shower and double vanity unit.

Juggling colourful textiles, one of the family bedrooms has a bohemian feel as might befit an artistic youngster. The bed features a vibrant patchwork headboard, and the walls are decorated with macramé and art. Shelves above the desk hold an eclectic collection of books, DVDs and board games.

The designers had comfort and opulence in mind when they decorated one of the two guest bedrooms. A stylish chaise longue sets the tone amid vintage décor. The walls are adorned with sophisticated artwork, while a plush rug adds warmth and texture to the space. A skylight provides dramatic lighting  from above and there’s a lovely view from the floor-to-ceiling window.

The other guest room is more modern and minimalist in style, characterised by clean lines, neutral colours and a lack of clutter. The bed has a sleek, low-profile frame and a round headboard. The walls are painted a soothing grey to complement the dark hardwood floor. A small side table and a floor lamp complete the simple yet elegant design.

The house stands as evidence to the designers’ skill in merging elegance, comfort and functionality. Almost every item has been custom-designed by Kris Turnbull Studios, reflecting its commitment to creating unique and resplendent spaces. From the bespoke furnishings to the decorative lighting, each element has been carefully considered to create a refined and cohesive ambience.

Offering modern luxury right in the heart of London, it is an inspiring home for those who value both style and substance.
